2022 Members’ Fall Juried Show

Jurors: Manuela Jimenez and Ho’oulunonalani (Ho’o)

Manuela Jimenez and Ho’oulunonalani (Ho’o) are members of Icons at Play, a curatorial collective formed in 2017. Icons aims to playfully integrate cultural trends with the way we experience art jewelry.

Manuela Jimenez has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design from Los Andes University in Bogota, Colombia and an MFA in Jewelry + Metalsmithing from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She has worked in the jewelry industry for over 10 years as a bench jeweler, designer and currently Creative Director & Accounts Executive. Manuela is a long time instructor at Brooklyn Metal Works and has previously taught at RISD and Pratt.

Ho'o holds a bachelors in a mix of mechanical engineering and architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She is the Lead Paper Engineer/3D Designer at Lovepop and teaches 3D Illustration at Parsons. Ho’o served as Maker-In-Residence at Skidmore College and has taught courses at Pratt and RISD. She previously worked in design and production for events, exhibitions and entertainment including projects for: LG, Kiehl's, Target, the Whitney Museum, Sesame Workshop and Saturday Night Live.

 

ELIGIBILITY: 

The show is open to NAA members only, 18 years of age or older.

CATEGORY/MEDIA:

Open to all media and disciplines, however reproductions of original work and Giclee prints cannot be accepted.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• All work must be original, completed within the last five years, and must have not been exhibited in a previous NAA Fall, Winter, or Regional Juried Show. 
• All work must be for sale. We do not accept works on loan from any private collection.
• Digital image submissions must be high resolution (300 ppi or higher), sized between 540 px and 4800 px. 
• 2D works must be framed and ready to hang with screw eyes or D-rings and wire. Metal frames must have hardware that screws securely in the track.  
• Plexiglas or glass-covered drawings, prints, photographs, and watercolors are accepted. 
• Frameless glass or plexiglass, frames with tension, or saw-tooth hangers cannot be accepted. 
• Photos printed on metal with proper hanging hardware are accepted.
• Gallery wrapped canvas must be stapled on the back. Gessoed or painted sides are acceptable.
• Framed dimensions no larger than 60 inches on any one side. Sculpture and 3-dimensional work must be between less than 7 feet in height, 90 pounds or less, and fit within a 3x3 foot area. 
• No wet paintings

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 

• Submissions open 08/25/22.
• When providing dimensions, if the work is framed, input the framed dimensions.
• Digital submissions only. You may enter up to three works of art in JPEG (.jpg) format. The image should include the submission only and should exclude any mat, frame, and background. 
• One image per work. Sculpture entries may include one additional digital image per work.
• All accepted work is subject to review and must comply with the NAA framing standards. No artwork substitution is allowed
• Submission of your entry constitutes your agreement with all the terms of this Call for Entry
• Submission of your entry acknowledges the right of the NAA to reproduce artwork for marketing purposes.
• The NAA reserves the right to decline a submission for any reason or to remove a selected work for any reason.

NAA Artist Members: $23.00 per entry

NAA Artist Plus Members:  First two entries FREE with promo code ARTISTPLUS at check out, a third entry is $23.00

SALES AND INSURANCE

All work must be for sale. The NAA retains a commission of 40% for works sold. Works will be handled with all possible care. NAA provides insurance up to 60% of the value declared by the artist from the day of receipt of the artwork to the final published pickup date. NAA is not responsible for work not picked up after Sunday, January 22, 2023.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

• Exhibition dates: Thursday October 20, 2022 - Sunday November 20, 2022
• Submission period: August 25, 2022 - September 30, 2022 at 11:59 pm
• Notification of acceptance or rejection: October 7, 2022 by 5:00 pm
• Receiving for accepted works: October 11, 2022 to October 12, 2022 (11:00 am - 5:00 pm) and October 13,2022 (11am- 7:00 pm). Please follow Covid protocols.
• Opens to the Public: Thursday, October 20, 2022 
• Reception and Awards Presentation: Saturday, October 29, 2022 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
• Pick-up unsold works: Sunday, November 20, 2022 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. or Tuesday, November 22, 2022 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Artists bear responsibility for pickup on dates stated above. Work left beyond that date is no longer the responsibility of the NAA and after 60 days becomes the property of the NAA.
